The client, a leading German Tier 1 automotive supplier, required the implementation of UDS (ISO 14229) diagnostics for its climate control ECU. The objective was to ensure seamless diagnostic functionality aligned with the OEM’s stringent automotive software standards.

ElectRay partnered with a leading German Tier 1 automotive supplier to implement UDS diagnostics for the climate control ECU. Our work was focused on five key areas:

Strategic Assessment

  • Conducted detailed requirement analysis and management using IBM DOORS.
  • Aligned development efforts with the V-Cycle SDLC process and ASPICE compliance.

Technology Implementation/Modernization

  • Used AUTOSAR R4.2.2 architecture as the development foundation.
  • Deployed the solution on a Renesas RH850 microcontroller platform.
  • Implemented embedded C code and configured Basic Software (BSW) using Vector DaVinci Configurator.

Engineering & Migration

  • Designed and implemented both high-level and detailed architecture.
  • Created a comprehensive functional test plan aligned with ASPICE standards.
  • Performed functional testing directly on the target ECU.

Application Support/Optimization

  • Supported diagnostics realization through Vector tools and CAN-based debugging.
  • Ensured alignment with multiple vendor stacks like Vector and Elektrobit.

Tools & Technology Enablement

  • Employed a robust toolchain including Vector DaVinci, CANdela, Eclipse, GHS Compiler, PTC Integrity, Multi Debugger, and CANoe to support diagnostics development and validation.

Results

The project resulted in a stable and standards-compliant UDS diagnostics implementation for the climate control ECU, reinforcing the OEM’s diagnostic coverage and testing capability.
